Although this was the most beautiful day of the summer so far, I had a long list of chores to accomplish before any fun could be had. It started at 7:30 a.m. (Yes, WTH?? it’s Saturday!!) with a motley crew of guys who came to wack some huge branches off several trees which were looming over my house and barn. I plowed through gardening, mowing, KP duties and laundry till lunch and then started with my “Woman vs Wild” home projects. I got several completed, one of which was to finally hang a new wrought iron cafe rod in the freshly painted bathroom. The other feats being the gutting of the snack cabinet, and the initial dredging of the Narnia Closet. I was seeing the end of the tunnel by 3:00 p.m. and was considering going out to dinner or searching the depths of the freezer for something to jump out at me. I finally thawed some chops, baked some cheesy garlic biscuits for the boys, and even managed a pear/blueberry cobbler from homegrown fruit. Eh, no fun there, just lots of dishes and most of it I can’t eat on my low carb diet anyway.
Cinderella had nothing on this girl today…
By 6:00 p.m. I was looking for my fairy godmother to save me, as I tried on my dress and shoes for this week’s Tango Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Disease. No, these size 9 1/2 boats won’t be wearing dainty glass slippers to the dance, but I did think my new shoes were kinda sexy.
I finally gave up on going out and decided to have some big fun right here at home with a lovely spa evening. A steamy hot shower to hose off the chiggers may have made me FEEL like a princess, but there is one difference …. once I reach my Red Shoe Life Transformation, I have no intentions of turning back into a pumpkin ever again!
