Today began with my trek to work to be MOD otherwise known as Manager on Duty. I have heard it called other things, but truth be known, I don’t really mind being MOD (when there isn’t a flood, a fire or fistfight). Needless to say, except for the part about no air conditioning in my office, it was a pretty awesome day!
One of the best parts about being MOD is that I get to eat my lunch in the main Dining Room with the Residents. Today I sat with an awesome woman named Mary. Among other things, we talked about gardening. According to Mary, there is something called Lunar Gardening and it revolves about the different phases of the moon. Who knew? As usual, when I hear about new things, my brain opens up and I suck every last ounce of information I can get… and then I start to Google.
So, after a lot of web searching, I am out in the yard in 108 degrees, feverishly yanking out fried kale and planting my Fall crop. Since today is the New Moon, I am assured to have a banner yield. Although I am not completely certain WHAT I was supposed to plant, or if I was supposed to plant it under the moon or while shooting a moon, one thing for sure, there won’t be any vampires in THIS Lunar garden… I planted an entire row of GARLIC!
I did mention it was 108 degrees!
